I will admit that there are a few (3 to be exact) fireplace pages that are interesting, one of which wasn’t mentioned in the fireplace section of the book. I took the words “making it modern” to mean just that, but was greatly fooled unless “modern” means combing the attic for what you can find from yester-year and combining it with a few new pieces. “Making it personal” would have been a more appropriate title. The section on bedrooms appears to be page after page of those old items with a few modern pieces thrown in to produce an assortment of overcrowded rooms. When I read “modern” I believe that NOW is what it means and not ‘today’s guide for estate sale shopping.’ Sorry. My understanding of “modern” in decorating indicates a sense of the future, sleek furnishings and perhaps even a tribute to less-is-more but certainly not more-of-yesterday.
