This software is obviously geared for people experienced in working with fairly complicated software and architectural design. I was merely a new homeowner who wanted to work with a basic floorplan to move around furniture, and this was way beyond that level! Some information on ease of operation as a software program, plus degree of technical expertise needed in architectural and interior design would have helped to steer me away from spending money on a program I will never be able to use!

I bought this product to get some ideas for custom home plans. The box advertises “1500 sample home plans” on it. However the “sample home plans” are all non editable and are provided via HTML web pages. They don’t open up in the program, or use any portion of it. All the info that is given is a few two dimensional pictures and a one paragraph description. You can get tens of thousands of such descriptions for free on the internet. What a disappointment.

What a tedious pain in the neck this is! I just wanted to plan some landscaping, but I could spend the rest of my life just getting set up. Too labor intensive, not fun. Sure, it looks like it would be fun, but it’s not. I’m going to buy a book and never open this program again.

There’s a relatively steep learning curve for this software, but once you get it it’s very useful. There are quite a few “quirks” too, snapping can be frustrating and new rooms can pop up when you dont want them to. Forums say there are specific ways to fix these things, but a better solution would be for the software to be a little smarter and more forgiving. Overall i did find it helpful though in remodeling our house.
